How we work

Partnering for learning

We aim to be a learning partner and critical friend, asking questions and sharing ideas, stimulating reflection and learning. By working closely with our partners, we try to ensure our work contributes to building longer-term skills and capacity so that new practices can be integrated into everyday work.

Tailored and adaptive

We tailor our support for each partner according to the type of work they’re doing and their unique circumstances. We spend time understanding our partners’ needs and priorities and design our projects to build on their existing practices and experience. We adapt our work as we go, based on continuous feedback and learning.

Participation and rights-based practice

We continuously seek to enhance the participation and power of people with lived experience in our work. We follow ethical principles to ensure that we uphold and safeguard the rights of people we work with, and we aim to ensure there is mutual benefit and reciprocity in all our activities.

Accessible

We understand the time and resource pressures faced by social purpose organisations and believe that professional support should be more accessible for all organisations working to enhance social justice. As a not-for-profit organisation, we aim to make our services accessible to grassroots and community-led organisations through tiered fees and pro bono assistance.

Testimonials

Our partnership with Lighthouse has been really transformative rather than transactional.

International Detention Coalition

While Lighthouse led and guided the process, there was a sense of shared values and finding meaning in what we are doing together. That’s what made this process relevant, useful and meaningful.

International NGO

The Lighthouse approach of listening first and working to what already existed within our organisation was really helpful. Their flexibility and interest in helping us build our MEL systems in a different way was very refreshing.

NGO in Lebanon

Lighthouse helped us make our monitoring and evaluation process more clear and systematic.
